Empty Bowls is a fundraiser that helps to raise money to help with food insecurity. The Arkansas Food Bank is hosting an Empty Bowls event www.arkansasfoodbank.org/empty-bowls/ in May and Episcopal Upper School Art Club wants to contribute clay decorated bowls to help.
We hosted a Lower School Girl Scout troop after school to help them create original clay bowls with designs. The Girl Scouts had two options- one to use underglaze and paint on designs onto the bowls OR embellish the clay bowl with animals or shapes. Most of the girls decided to create little creatures to the rim of the bowls. We had a couple of birds, koala bear, pig, giraffe, and bees for only a few of the clever ideas.
Check out the progress of the students work in the gallery. Enjoy! I will post more photos as the project evolves.
More Empty Bowls workshops will be posted soon so you can join the effort to help fight hunger in Arkansas.
