Three students and Ms. Schultz attended SCADYear, a piloted program to support yearbook staff and content creators. Alana Duvall, Haley Tucker, and Braden Seale represented Episcopal Collegiate. This was a three-day workshop that included sessions about emerging technologies, a collaboration seminar, photography, the art of storytelling, advertising and graphic design, AR and VR technology use and implementation, and a creative thinking strategies lecture. We also enjoyed a historic downtown ghost tour and fine dining at several historic restaurants. The SCAD campus tour included visiting all the unique buildings that were repurposed into state of the art studios that supported a large variety of career options. We enjoyed the art gallery and Haley directed a 360 film that utilized the Oculus headset, we participated in a Google pitch for a Moving app., and the students experienced a silent disco dance. Alana, Haley, and Braden gained new skills and ideas that we hope to implement here at Episcopal this school year. The workshop was an incredible experience with some of the best professors in their fields. Don’t hesitate to inquire about their experiences, they have a lot of new tricks up their sleeves, and ideas to become better creative content creators.
